Perform CPR HLTCPR201B
This course is a short course designed to familiarise and educate participants in the requirements of CPR. The course does not cover any other aspects of First Aid or Emergency Response. The course does align with the Unit of Competency HLTCPR201B from the Health Training Package.
Provide Basic Emergency Life Support HLTFA201B
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies using basic life support measures only.
The skills and knowledge described here enable a first aider to provide an initial response to an emergency in line with practised actions and Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC)
Apply First Aid (old Senior First Aid) HLTFA301C
Who Should Attend
People who are, or wish to become, First Aiders in the workplace. Personnel who have a first aid role as part of an Emergency Response Team.
Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques HLTFA404B
This unit deals with the provision of advanced first aid resuscitation techniques, life support, and management of casualty(s), until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers.
Apply Advanced First Aid, HLTFA402C
This unit deals with the provision of advanced first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers The unit involves the use of oxygen equipment,administrati on of medications and knowledge of external automatic defibrillation units.
This unit builds on HLTFA301B: Apply first aid to include additional skills and use of a range of equipment.
Pre-requisite
This unit should be assessed after achievement of one of the following related competency units:
- HLTFA301C Apply first aid
- HLTCPR201B Perform CPR or
- HLTFA201B Provide emergency life support
In general it is recommended that people using advanced resuscitation techniques have completed HLTFA301C Apply First Aid. However, it is recognised that some employers require staff to be able to apply advanced resuscitation techniques without requiring this first aid competency.
Provide First Aid in a Remote Situation HLTFA302B
This course is designed to equip participants with the skills to manage a First Aid incident in a remote area, and to coordinate the initial response of Emergency Services to the scene. The course includes consideration of First Aid Requirements prior to working in a remote area, and the delivery of skills under medical guidance via remote communication.
Additionally, this program will provide training to have participants demonstrate competency to the standard required of the unit of competency “Apply First Aid – HLTFA301C” from the Health Training Package.
