Driver Awareness (Nationally Recognised Course, incorporating TLIC107C Drive Vehicles)

As specialists in Driver Training, Shawsett Training has available a range of training courses that can be further customised to meet client requirements. Capitalising on training and experience in WA Emergency Services, Shawsett has developed courses that demonstrate (through recognised evaluation methods) their impact on Driver Safety by effectively targeting driver behaviour and providing strategies to develop risk perception techniques.

Courses Available

The Driver Awareness Course is a Nationally Accredited Course that incorporates the unit of competency TDTC197B Drive Vehicles from the Transport and Distribution Training Package. Shawsett utilises researched road safety information to provide drivers with education in risk assessment techniques, and defensive driving exercises. The course combines a two-hour theory session with substantial on road driving sessions to reinforce the risk associated with driving, and provides valuable education on hazard recognition methods and practical driving skills to improve and encourage safe driving practices. Additionally the course can conclude with a session on basic roadside first aid, to ensure safe response to emergency incidents.Driver Awareness Course

Course Overview:

The Driver Awareness Course is a Nationally Recognised Course that incorporates the unit of competency TLIC107C Drive Vehicles from the Transport and Logistics Training Package.

The course is recognised by Rio Tinto (Pilbara Iron) and Kellogg Joint Venture (Gorgan) as the Driving in a 4WD training course.

The course can be conducted in Sedans or 4WD, and when conducted in 4WD, teh course trains participants to drive a light commercial 4WD on prepared road surfaces, utilising 4WD when grip levels are appropriate.

Shawsett utilises researched road safety information to provide drivers with education in risk assessment techniques, and defensive driving exercises. The course combines a two-hour theory session with substantial on road driving sessions to reinforce the risk associated with driving, and provides valuable education on hazard recognition methods and practical driving skills to improve and encourage safe driving practices. Additionally the course can conclude with a session on basic roadside first aid, to ensure safe response to emergency incidents.

Course Duration and Conditions:

The Course is genarally a full day course and is run utilising a training session with excellent video demonstrations, followed by an on road practical drive through suburban, highway and gravel roads.

Rates are available based on individual attendance and group rates of up to 4 participants per one trainer.

Who Should Attend:

This course is designed for drivers requiring entry to Mining Sites, or agencies wishing to develop a safer driving culture, or employers who wish to improve or refresh safe driving knowledge, particularly for drivers that encounter country and gravel driving.

Driver Safety Seminar

Shawsett Training has developed Driver Safety Seminars that provide an interactive environment that is designed to involve groups in the consideration and assessment of the driving task and what is required to drive safely. Participants will participate in a workshop environment, considering proven research materials to establish safe driving practices, which enable assessment of risks and hazards with an expanded knowledge base. This seminar runs for four hours and is effectively complimented with a fully supervised on-road driving session to reinforce and apply the safe driving practices established in the morning, by commentating their driving plans and objectively assessing their driving ability.Course Overview:

The seminar runs for four hours with the option of adding a four hour on-road session for groups of three or four per vehicle with one trainer per vehicle.

Who Should Attend:

Designed for larger groups, this course is effective for up to 12 people and suits employers or community groups who wish to effectively reassess and improve driving abilities and review driving requirements.
