Four-wheel Drive Training Courses (Nationally Recognised)

Courses Available Four Wheel Drive Awareness Course (One Day) Four Wheel Drive Occupational Course (Two Day) Remote Area Four Wheel Drive Driving (Four Day)

Four Wheel Drive Awareness Course Course Overview: This Course has been developed in consultation with industry, to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to competently operate a four wheel drive vehicle in a safe manner. The course incorporates the Unit of Competency TLIC2507B Operate Four Wheel Drive Vehicle from the Transport and Logistics Training Package. Training commences with a facilitated presentation on Four Wheel Drive Techniques, Hazard Assessment, Risk management and Recovery Techniques. The remainder of the day is spent four wheel driving and completing exercises to provide a practical understanding of the theory behind four wheel drive design and the safe use of recovery equipment. Course Duration: One full day with three to four participants and one trainer per vehicle. Who Should Attend: This course is designed for the occupational four wheel driver that utilises a 4WD as part of their normal activities and is required to be aware of safe techniques and how to safely use basic recovery equipment.

Four Wheel Drive Occupational Course Course Overview: This course was developed by Shawsett Training with the aim of developing advanced four-wheel driving techniques and recovery methods, and remote area safety management principles that contribute to the safety and welfare of course participants contributing to the reduction and minimisation of personal injury and vehicle damage. The course incorporates the unit of competency Operate Four Wheel Drive TLIC2507B .   The rationale for the course is to provide an effective course for drivers routinely exposed to remote conditions, and travelling long distances requiring the use of four-wheel drive. In developing this course, recognition was given to policies developed by Occupational Safety and Health Officers, and recognised four-wheel drive safe operation guidelines. Course Duration: This course is run over two days and requires one four-wheel drive for every three participants with one instructor per vehicle. Who Should Attend: This course is designed for the occupational driver who requires more extensive knowledge of recovery equipment and safe operating techniques and often is required to work in remote areas.

Remote Area Four Wheel Driving Course Course Overview: This course was developed with the aim of providing drivers with the knowledge and skills necessary for the safe operation of four wheel drive vehicles over long periods, considering trip planning and first aid requirements for both occupational and recreational pursuits. Course Duration: Four days of training incorporating level 1 first aid, advanced four wheel drive techniques and remote are safety and awareness training. Who Should Attend: Designed for occupational four wheel drivers in remote areas with safety and communication requirements, or recreational drivers planning extended four wheel drive trips into remote areas.
