Truck and Trailer Courses
 Shawsett Training has courses customised to clients needs with the aim
to develop truck driving techniques that contribute to the safety and welfare
of course participants contributing to the reduction and minimisation of
vehicle down time and the risk of personal injury and vehicle damage.
Course Objectives:
- Develop hazard perception and risk management techniques in commercial
truck driving.
- Discuss basic Occupational Safety and Health requirements for the
use of commercial trucks and associated trailer equipment.
- Raise awareness of the risk potential in driving commercial trucks
whilst towing a trailer.
- Enhance the practical driving skills of commercial vehicle drivers
in driving vehicles on sealed and unsealed roads whilst towing a trailer.
- Develop hazard perception and risk management techniques on road
whilst towing a trailer of various sizes and types including single
and tamdem axle trailers.
- Develop knowledge for the safe couplingm (including safe manual handling)
and load proportioning in a trailer.
- Raise awareness of legal responsibilities and licencing requirements.
- Raise awareness in course participants of tow vehicle requirements
and considerations.
- Raise awareness of trailer braking systems
